                                               Cat herding, 21st century style

Your Ink Stained, etc., has stumbled upon the following data in his peregrinations upon cyberspace and      doesn't know what the heck to do with it.  Certain classmates are known to be on vacation and several have      perennial “mailbox full” returns from DAEMON, such that we suspect rampant spam catchers baying at the      moon, and have thus omitted those cries in the dark from this list.  Should any classmates (subscribers)           have later info, please e-mail us and also Al MERWITZ, who flogs the class roster.

Walking Wounded

Following are some of those struggling with having been born in 1933:

1....Smith MARSHALL...recovering nicely from esophageal cancer, which has resulted in a “good news vs. bad news” conundrum:  he has lost significant poundage and the situation has not slowed him down an iota.  Cheers,  Smitty!
2....Marynance (Nanci WILSON) Schellenbach has recently experienced dual eye surgeries, a groundbreaking undertaking, which seems to have achieved over 90% success, and “them blue eyes” are running on full steam, better than ever!
3....Queen Janet MURRAY underwent a Bariatric bypass three weeks ago and is progressing better than average, having lost so far, 24 pounds in 23 days.  The Queen experiences uncommon fatigue, due, I expect, to ingesting zero carbohydrates of late.  In a week, she will be unleashed upon solid foods, cut fine and chewed to a fair-the-well.  Next year, I plan to give her a couple pounds of venison jerky for her birthday.  She already craves something, anything, that really needs chewing.

71st Birthday bash?

The Queen’s graduating class of 1963 Balboa High School in San Francisco is scheduling a “Birthday Party” for all hands’ 60th birthdays next fall (2005).  Does this ring any bells for our fellow Cards? Of course, our class’s birthdays this year will be celebrating 71 years.  Smith MARSHALL has recently suggested that we follow the lead of our class of 1953 and throw a picnic at Redlands’ Sylvan Park.  It is central to most of our fellows and is a good city park about 100 years old.  I visited it once  about 1952 and remember it as being quite agreeable.
New subject:  Last January 27, following a mention in Vol. 4 # 1, Bev BOYCE White threw her hat in the ring to work for the 55th reunion envisioned by our class president Wild Bill JOHNSON.  She had not contacted either Smitty, Eleanor COYLE Courtney, nor Al MERWITZ in this regard.  But, Wild Bill opined the next day he hoped all hands would be available for the 55th, too.  Margo HENRYSON Oakley has suggested the use of an Indian Casino north of the Whitewater Grade, due to be newly remodeled by 2006, but is too involved with home, family and business to pursue this will-o'-the-wisp.
Bill JOHNSON anticipates these and other Cards may join in the hunt for the organization of his pet baby: the blowout, go-get-um, star-spangled SBHS 1951 55th REUNION!  Now is not the year for Cards to become roadkill!  Fence sitters often times suffer from a North-South disease we must not discuss in these chaste pages.

Special Request

Smitty (Smith MARSHALL) has requested, since he is collecting photos of outhouses, formerly known as “chick-sales”, for his indoor facilities, that any Cards who have such interesting, if scatological, illustrations be invited to forward same to him either by e-mail attachment or snail mail for those who may be diffident about entrusting such items to cyberspace.  Smitty will, I am certain be eternally grateful for your grace in fulfilling his fondest dreams in expanding his collection, already larger than any of yours.

Peringinations

A week ago I was e-mailed by Eleanor COYLE Courtney to the effect that the Loren Millers of Prescott and the Dick and Sandy MATHEWS left in May, according to Marilyn HOUSE, in their motorhomes to Alaska on a three-month’s jaunt.  We hope they have not been inconvenienced by the humongous forest fire reported on TV that had lately closed a major road, stranding many motorhomes in the mysterious North.  Anyone hear from any of them?

“In God we trust”

Patsy HANLIN Brocnik on April 29 wonders why, when the above phrase was added to the Pledge of Allegiance back in the 50’s, there was no outcry the way there is now when certain Leftists are agitating to excise that phrase from our Pledge.  She further wonders why the outcry now when it wasn’t in the Pledge in the first place.  Any opinions?

Eyetralian hors d’oeuvres ala Queen

This old family recipe for an antipasto has been passed down to the Queen from her mother, deceased for a year now, fondly remembered as Big Noni.  The queen has many such exotic recipes stored in her large Italian heart.  For instance, lasagna is best made using three cheeses:  romano, parmesan (chunk, not powdered), and mozzarella, all grated, so as to melt all together between the layers of pasta.
One chunk cheddar cheese
One small can chopped mild green chili peppers
One half tomato - diced
One baguette sour french bread,
Then:
Grate the cheese chunk
Add the chopped chili peppers and the grated cheese
Add enough olive oil to spread
Add salt, pepper, and garlic salt to taste
Mix and let rest for an hour.
Then:
Meanwhile, cut the baguette into dollar-like slices and the spread the cheese and chili mixture onto them.
Place on a cookie sheet and heat in 350 deg. oven until the cheese melts.
Nibble delicious Italian hors d’oeuvres warm.  Sip a little Italian wine.

That's amore**!

RR.jpg(JG Image 435x594 pixels)
This hyperlink above leads to <http://federalist.com/news/RR.jpg> which reveals an uncopyrighted pencil sketch of our late President contributed by the editor of the Federalist to those who subscribe to that e-zine, like your Ink-stained, etc., etc. (never omit the "W," Bunky)!.  One may merely write in the address noted between the carats and punch "Go"" on your Internet Search Engine, whatever it calls itself.  Save it As to your docs, or where ever. Those of you whom have Adobe Photoshop or such a picture management application may then open it and import the drawing from your docs and print it on 8x10 Premium glossy, suitable for framing.  Mine is going on my mantel along with my pencil drawing of Duke Wayne.  Print as many as you can afford and give them as Christmas presents. For those Cards who care not about our nation's heroes, I have attempted to export it just below, but it may or may not appear.  It did when I pre-issued this to myself, but does not now appear on my AOL "You've got mail!" screen, from which I'm now editing this, one more time
