Bill Lathlean

Bill attended Valley College for a year, then to San Francisco State, graduating with an A.B. in 1957.  He entered the Navy's Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in Nov '57.   Bill left the active Navy in '63 and returned to college while staying in the active reserve.  After a tenure as a high school  science teacher while earning the equivalent of a math major. He then taught high school math until 1995, retiring after 31 years of teaching.  He is married to the former Ellen  Clarke of Santa Ana and has 4 daughters.  They are enjoying an active retirement, with  travel, nature, eight grandchildren, gourmet cooking and home projects.  Bill says  "social stimulations are important to keep ourselves outgoing and alert.  A home computer  and project challenges keep our minds from rusting and in order to do the same for our bodies, we attend a gym on alternate days".  They enjoy the climate and pace of N. Calif.
